Paul Ong

Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, Tsao Foundation

Associate Professor Paul Ong is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Strategy Officer of the Tsao Foundation, where he is involved in shaping the strategic direction of innovations, policy initiatives and services at the Tsao Foundation for population ageing, active lifespans and the primary care of older people. He is also concurrently, adjunct Associate Professor at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Flinders University, Australia, in Ageing Studies.

Prior to arriving at Tsao, he worked for the WHO, as a technical lead for UHC, population ageing, sustainable financing and health systems development, with a particular interest in ageing in South-East and East Asia. He was also a member of the Innovations for Healthy Ageing team at the WHO HQ Centre for Health Development, Kobe, Japan, from 2015-2018. Before this, he was the Global Health Policy and Programs Advisor for HelpAge International, London Secretariat, where he helped deliver health care and healthy-ageing programs in over 20 low- and middle-income countries. Paul has an Epidemiology, Social Science and Health Services Research background. He was both a graduate and a Fellow at Mansfield College, University of Oxford, and has been active in international health development, as well as health services research and development since 1997.
